The city of Bhopal, capital of state of Madhya Pradesh is a green and clean city. It has been selected as part of the Government of India’s Smart City Programme (http://www.smartbhopal.city/). The city has been progressing in improving life for its citizens under the Smart City Programme. One such measure is the public cycle rental and provision of cycle paths across the city. Shared cycle kiosks have been set up and cycles can be hired by use of a smartphone app and paid cashlessly through the app. Some of the bicycle kiosks are located on the cycle paths. About 3 m. Wide concrete cycle path has been laid along highways and other parts of rhe city and barricaded to prevent vehicles and also landscaped to add beauty. Apart from cyclists, walkers use the cycle path. Bhopal is thus among 1st and few Indian cities to have cycle paths and shared cycles for its citizens.
