Bhimtal Lake, Bhimtal, Uttarakhand, India

Every time I go up the mountains I make it a point to bypass Nainital which too has a lake, but the crowded town is not my cup of tea. Over the years I have made it a point to stop for a while at Bhimtal lake to look at the deep mysterious water of the lake.

This time I stopped the car while going up to Mayavati and on my way down from Kausani too, I took a break for a while to soak in the atmosphere. I did not stay in Bhimtal town which revolves around this lake.

It’s a treat to watch the lake from very near and also from far as it changes its moods over time. From the road side it looks so peaceful, serene and in a way gorgeous. Bhimtal lake shimmers in the morning sun. By afternoon the shimmering water look like chips of glass trying to stay afloat on the water as it ripples slowly to the caress of the gentle breeze. There is an island in the middle of this lake that had a restaurant which is now closed. In its place a splendid aquarium has come up.

For those interested in the facts:

Hi @Gautamda

Please don’t forget to tag Connect members in your posts by writing @ before their name. This way they receive a notification and know that you are trying to communicate with them directly.

It has now become very popular as Nainital has become very crowded with tourists. May, June and July is not very suitable but all other months are good. The best way to reach is through Delhi from there to Kathgodam by rail that takes about 7 hrs. Bypass Nainital and go straight to Bhimtal. It is in fact at the crossroads of many destinations in Himalayas. You will love the place.

I have not been able to tag my friends. The three dots that you mentioned earlier do not show this option in my case. The option shown is email, share in Facebook etc. Please check if it is a glitch.
