Bhakri (भाकरी) (Sorghum Bread or Roti) Pizza : Healthy & Different way to enjoy our routine dish.

Hello All LGs,

Hope all are fine and staying safe and healthy…

Today I am sharing the Healthy and tasty Pizza recipe with you which is different way to eat our routine dish. We have our routine dish as Bhakri with Capsicum Sabji. Let’s see how can we eat in different and enjoyable way.

I have posted one post about recipe of Bread Pizza- Easy and Quick.

With the similar procedure we can do this Bhakri (भाकरी) (Sorghum Bread or Roti) Pizza. Have a look of this Pizza.

In my post about Bread Pizza- Easy and Quick , instead of Brown Bread, I used a base as Bhakri which is made from Sorghum Flour. In English, Jwari (Marathi), Jowar (Hindi) is also known as the “New Quinoa” for its Gluten-free, whole grain goodness. In India, Jwari, known as Cholam in Tamil and Jonna in Telugu, is a important grain, especially in the western and southern parts of the country where it is ground into flour and is used to make Rotis, Bhakri, Cheela, Dosa etc. Widely used to make in Villages in India.

Procedure of making Bhakri:

Bhakri can be make similarly like Chapati with some minor changes like Oil is not to be used as in Chapati.

  1. Take adequate quantity of Sorghum flour.
  2. Put hot water gradually in the flour for making dough. (Because of hot water Bhakri become soft and later crispy while pizza making)
  3. Knead the dough.
  4. Take out small ball from Dough to make a Disk.
  5. Pat the dough ball gently into a thick, flat disk. Make sure that the dough does not stick while patting. You can use small quantity of same flour on hands and Rolling stand so that it will not stick.
  6. Heat a Tawa and place the disk on it. Apply water by fingers on the surface and roast it well on both the sides.
  7. Your Bhakri is ready.

Bhakri Pizza Ingredients**:**

  1. Bhakri (Jwari Roti/ Sorghum Bread)
  2. Onion
  3. Capsicum
  4. Tomato Sauce
  5. Cheese
  6. Red Chilli Powder or This Black Paper
  7. Salt
  8. Edible oil

Method:

  1. Chop the Onion and Capsicum like small cubes.
  2. Put half tea spoon oil in pan.Roast the chopped onion and capsicum by adding salt and red chili to taste. (For pics kindly see my post: Bread Pizza- Easy and Quick)
  3. Apply butter on flat pan (Indian Tava). Keep Bhakri on Tava. Spread tomato sauce on it.
  4. Spread the Onion & Capsicum stuff on Bhakri.
  5. Place the small pieces of cheese on it. You can Grate the cheese on it as well.
  6. Roast the Bhakri till crispy and melting of cheese on very low flame. It may take 10 to 15 mins.
  7. Serve hot.

It can be have it as Breakfast or Lunch or Dinner whatever you like. In short its the different way to eat routine Sabji Roti which is enjoyable.

About Sorghum, I must mention that it has many health benefits as follows:

  1. Gluten free
  2. Full of Iron
  3. High Protein
  4. Very good for Bones
  5. Full of Vitamins, Minerals & Micro nutrients.
  6. Good for Heart Health.
  7. Rich in fiber
  8. Smooth Digestible

That’s all friends…

Have you tried some different type of Healthy Pizza version? Or having your routine dish in a different enjoyable way? Please share…

Take care… Stay Safe… Stay Healthy…
