We all know there are all sorts of fake profiles on Google Maps attempting to spam the map.
I recently noticed a new trend of fake profile with followers advertising odd links. Interesting that this new trend does not seem to have been detected by Google @DeniGu
Here are 2 examples:
Obviously another form of spamming… It seems to work to some extent when you see the number of followers both profiles have

I often think about your video statements regarding making edits on Google Maps or not. I’m inching closer to your conclusion.
I think the naughty girls follow a lot of people and no one seems to follow them back - for good reasons.

I still make the “easy” edits such as moving the map marker, correcting the name, adding the POIs for which I don’t spend too long investigating (such as ATMs, churches, restrooms, parks,…) but no more businesses due to too high of a rejection rate compared to the work. I leave that part to the business owners…
For the “naughty” girls, I just found this new spamming strategy interesting… They probably don’t make any changes to Google Maps to stay under the radar, but links are always a potential danger… I thought the Google Maps team would prefer to “sanitize” this type of data in the future.

Have no fear @Herve_Andrieu as for some time now fake profiles like this have been reported to the team. It’s always a good idea to flag these as @FranciscoRodriguez has mentioned and if advising on usernames and or profile links here on Connect then I think it’s best to do so via a private message.
Nice to hear from you Herve. I can’t recall if you had mentioned whether you got your van fully decked out and out on missions?
I’m gonna flag, but I don’t understand how the Google Maps team does not already have filters setup to detect this kind of behavior.
Van work is not finished yet unfortunately and the current temperatures in Florida make my progress extremely slow… I ran a test in May by exploring a bit of Southern Georgia and I was quite happy with the result. Hopefully I’ll be on the road on a more permanent manner some time during this winter (Florida winter is the best season to be on the road).
I’ll be working on my stats on July 31st for the July rankings, but there was not much progress… Just a few pictures here and there…

It is unbelievable that something like this is allowed here.
I’ve been having a lot of issues with too sensitive filters filtering out my reviews, but surprisingly those filters are not smart and sensitive enough to detect such fake accounts…
