i’ve been trying to cleanse my town from closed business and an unexisting places. but many of my suggestions in this matter never get approved. May be it isbecasue there are comment or pictures, but i have visited the place myself and it is closed. How can i increase my chances of getting approved these type of suggestions?
Hello,
In my opinion, the following acts would improve the chances of a place getting closed
-
Suggest the edit from the actual location.
-
Add photos of the place which indicates the closure clearly.
-
If the place is claimed, add a snap of the publication from the owner saying so.
Nevertheless, good trust score of the person suggesting that also matters.
It is possible that there is a new place, to increase the chances:
1. Publish a photo that shows that the place does not exist or was closed.
2. It is possible that there is a new store/store in that same place so it does not allow you to close it, because it was only a change of owner or name.
3. Ask for support from other local guides to help you, so can be reviewed shortly and faster.
Cheers and hope I helped.
Great #LGCTM effort! Can you please share a link to a few examples @sergiogonzlz ? Then other local guides can have a closer look to see what could be the problem here.
Have you made a lot of other edits already? Did those get approved?
And do your suggestions go to ‘Not applied’ instantly or are they first ‘Pending’ for a while?
Hi, @sergiogonzlz
There are several reasons why our edit is pending or even not applied. You could read it here: Why is my edit status Pending or Not Applied
One of the reason (for a not-applied-edit) is Google unable to confidently verify the information you shared at this time.
If I could suggest you thing, maybe you could try to edit the closed POI on location and keep your GPS/location on while doing the edit. Maybe it could enhance the chance that your edit would get approved/applied? Probably…
Hello¡
So here is one example: https://goo.gl/maps/hdtafzm9aCrWjTao8 , It is an ATM that doesn’t exist. it is located where there isn’t even a building. and actually there is comment from someone saying that the location is wrong.
I’ve tried to remove it a few time and it goes as “Not applied”. saying that google could not very the info.
I generally get approved everything but these type of suggestions. But I haven’t tried making the edit while in the location and with GPS turned on, or uploading pictures. so i guess ill try that.
Hi @C_T ,
I noticed you often mention that local guides should try making difficult edits while at the place in question. Is this something you have experienced personally? Honestly I have never seen any effect of that. And I don’t have any big problems getting new places and edits approved. But on the other hand I never try to create a new place without photos taken at the site.
Would you care to share any emperical evidence you might have?
Cheers
Yes, that’s based on my real experience @MortenCopenhagen
-
A place creation suggested on the spot- the approval was within a minute.
-
Closure of a POI on-site at the end of navigation. Approval within five minutes!
-
Displacement of a place marker after going back and forth at the end of navigation. -Instant approval.
(Incidentally, that’s in line with my experience in another field: A Gemba Kaizen produced more beneficial results as compared to a meeting room Kaizen)
Hi. Yes!! I’ll try this method for the edit and share the results. thank you all for your support!.
