Best Way to Place your Marker on the exact spot in Google Maps

Some of us go wrong when we use the marker on google maps.

So here are tips on how the get our markers at the exact spot.

1. Verify the correct location and area of where you wanna mark:

You’ve got to verify the exact location of where you want to mark, and you’ve gotta know the area too. (e.g Donnie’s Computer Store is close to Paige’s Grocery Store), if you want to mark Donnie’s store, it must not be at Paige’s. Same applicable if you wanna mark Paige’s, the marker should not be at Donnie’s.

2. Use Satellite Mode:
Hi Local Guides, most of us are familiar with the Map template, but when placing the marker satellite mode is way too cool, and it’s the best tool for marker mappers, because we can see the exact spot we’re placing our markers. unlike using the normal map mode or should i say template, yeah our map marking might be accurate, but not as accurate as using the satellite mode.

See illustrations below.

Image 1

As you could see on the image above, the satellite mode helps us to view the direct image, so as to verify where we’re gonna place our markers… Yeah, even with the help of our gps, satellite mode helps us to justify our mapping.

Image 2

So you could see the difference in image 1 and 2. Image 2 you could view and verify the exact spot you want your marker to be, while image 2 give you a template. With your experience and the help of a Gps that’s when you can appropriately add a marker on the specified spot using Normal Map Mode (Image 1).

3. Reliable GPS:

Yea, sometimes our gps fluctuate, meaning that sometimes the exact spot you’re standing is not the exact spot your gps is reading. Sometimes these are caused by network related problems. it means your network can’t properly load your gps settings to enable accuracy. When using map mode and you want to add a marker in a specific location or a the exact spot you’re standing, you’ll need a GPS for that… a gps will point out to you the exact spot.

But if you’re gps that doesn’t give you the right spot, but it senses that particular location, when you are about to use your marker, toggle to satellite mode.

  1. Try to add a place…,

  2. Click on the map marker

When it pop’s up

  1. Toggle to Satellite mode.

Thanks for reading this post, this is the idea I’ve gotta for today.

Thank you

Hi @Toboy

Thanks for sharing these tips. I’m fortunate to live in an area where satellite images are allowed at very high resolution and they are improved with even higher resolution aerial photos.

I would hence like to add the following to your tips:

Remember to zoom in all the way before positioning or moving a pin.
