After I finish documenting my local park I want to start a few “tours” of the San Antonio Riverwalk. Ideally I’d like to have them setup by each major section. But Google Maps currently just has the “Riverwalk” which goes to the Downtown/Historic District. If I specify one of the other sections (“Museum Reach” or “Mission Reach”), it doesn’t appear to have that distinction available. Is this a case where I need to “add a place”? Just concerned that folks who want to see those areas would have to do a lot more searching to find them…
Possibly related - Is there a way to grab a “tour” URL of Street View images from the desktop client? Or does one have to share the URL from the Android client via email?
Hi @EwanG I think I need a bit more information to help you answer your question. It sounds like you want to create multiple virtual tours for a single place (point of interest). If that is the case, then this isn’t supported, however, you could start a tour at the entrance and have that tour branch out from the start into several different tours around that place. The challenge is that people may never notice there is more than one.
You should only add places that are physically there and are useful to people. It is not a good idea to add places purely for the purposes of starting multiple different tours.
If you have a capable device e.g .Theta V with the latest firmware (2.50.1) and the latest Street View App (2.0.0.224017492) then you can make Street View blue lines of the entire riverwalk using Street View Video mode. I made a video tutorial here on Connect for doing this recently.
The problem is, that there are actually three districts to the San Antonio Riverwalk, but currently Google Maps treats it all as one thing. So there is the Museum Reach District that goes from the Witte Museum south past the Museum of Art and continues south until it reaches the Downtown area. That area is then the Historic District - the Horseshoe through downtown that most folks think of. Going south from there is the Mission Reach District that goes past several of the SA Missions, and finishes up just south of Mission Espada.
If someone wanted to see the Mission Reach district, putting them in the middle of downtown is an issue. So that’s where I’m trying to figure out how to get things “fixed”.
