I’ll pick up restaurants outside Beppu but it is not far from beppu. So you can easily go there by car within around 20-30 min. drive.
There is one note. Most of these restaurants might not speak English.

Newly opened last year .
Located in the high ground of Beppu city, the view is wonderful.
100％ Buckwheat flour used.
Combination plate with soba and tempura is my recommend.
Cost peromance is excellent.
Best italian restaurant in Beppu.

Near Beppu station within 10 minute walk.

Charcoal-grilled homebred chicken cuisine.
30 min. drive from beppu station near Asia Pacific University(APU).
Set meal’s cost per

Japanese noodle(Udon) shop in Hiji city, 20 min. drive from Beppu city.
Only counter seats.
The soup is delicious.
