Look into my contribution list, you’ll find 80% or even 90% of them are about restaurants, cafes, or food shops. Well, that’s it, I proudly see myself as a good foodie, not too picky nor too easy.
When I visit a city, the first thing I look up is always places to eat. I’ve googled “where to eat in xxx city”, “must eat in xxx city” so many times and have read hundreds of related articles from Lonely Planets, Eater, Foursquare, Yelp, etc, and all of these prework would eventually lead me to Google Maps (because you know, we need to be critical and double check if it’s really that good ;)) Therefore, as a local guide, it’s also what I share the most, the food places.
Like I mentioned above, I love food, and we all know that nothing better than sharing it with family, friends, or even strangers. Food is universal and is the best way to deliver and comfort mood (unless you want me to eat a roasted scorpion or a raw octopus then that’ll be another case).
Sharing is good, but what makes it great is the satisfaction knowing that my reviews or photos have helped someone somewhere in the world. I still remembered the amazement I felt when I first received an email from Google Maps saying that a photo I uploaded had been viewed for hundreds thousands time. I was like, “whoa! Is it even possible?” and then I realized, “well, that’s the scale of Google Maps.”
Living in this generation, we’re lucky to have Google Maps and people all over the world guide us and help us explore new places and new cities. And it’s such a pleasure to be one of the contributors of this integration community.
