Best Dosa in New York City

You have to go down the stairs into the basement to the cafeteria. As you enter the basement a giant statue of Ganesh welcomes you and the gift shop is on your right. The temple canteen probably has the best south Indian food in NYC. The menu includes all the south Indian specialties like Sosa, utppma, and vada. Most dishes are served samber and vegetable soup. I love the masala dosa with extra samber, the dosa is golden brown and crunchy. The masala dosa is filled with just the right amount of vegetables and spices. I also love the onion dosa with extra samber. The items are extremely cheap. Most items are less than $7. You can get a great meal with dessert for under $10. I highly recommend masala dosa with a cold cup of lasi. They do accept credit card on orders over $10. There is no table service and the lines get very long on the weekends. The food does not travel well and it doesn’t taste as good if you reheat it so it’s recommended that you eat in the canteen. This a hidden gem, I highly recommend it.
