I have what I considered the best cameraphone a number of years ago. I still think it’s good, but if it should fail, what’s the best in your consideration?
Hello @Annie4real
I suppose you know that Connect has a range of topics to be discussed and best phones wouldn’t be one of them, sorry !!!
Nevertheless I believe if you Google that question of yours you’ll get far more valid answers than a few experienced local guides can give you here on connect. Please try asking on Google or even on Bard and some of those very informative AI places on the Internet.
Happy guiding
Cheers
I think prices and how much money you are able and willing to spend is a major factor. Also, not all phones are available in every country.
For making photos that are helpful on Google Maps I think there are the following factors to consider:
Most recently developed phones all have great cameras. Certainly, if you aim for one with a good camera.
So resolution is not really an issue since the wast majority of views happen on tiny mobile screens.
So I would make sure your new phone has HDR and can zoom out by a lot.
HDR makes sure both the lightest and darkest areas are well exposed. And super wide zoom will allow you to almost allways take shots with straight vertical lines. Such images should then be cropped before upload to Google Maps as explained here.
Best of luck
Morten
PS You could also check out some of the photos follow local guides have added to Maps and ask them what Camera phone they use.
I was hoping for a reply from you. I consider P50 Pro. The price has dropped where I am. Not a good main phone, but maybe a good choice for photos. Do you have the P40 or have you moved on?
@Annie4real While I may not be able to necessarily to recommend a model, particularly due to regional availability and other reasons (as @MortenCopenhagen has mentioned), I can point you in the direction of a resource that will be helpful no matter what device you’re using: @PaulPavlinovich 's photography workshop video series.
Thanks. I still remember most of the theory from back when I used manual focus SLR cameras. I’ll see if there’s a video in the series that covers what I need now.
