Actually i am not a gadget addicted. I am also not active on social media.That’s why i am always late to know something new in it, such as a feature of Google Maps then that call as a Local Guide. About 1,5 years ago i just knew about a Local Guide. By first time, i fall in really interested with it.
What i know is people more be depended on maps guidance to see or to find something trough internet/gadget. Where ever they were: in car, in the office, at home, etc. In the other side, Google provide Maps information in smart way: they made media to collect content information from the people around the world. So, people can make self information and published it on Google Maps media as public info. So, to collect information Google recruiting open public contributor and provide reward system. The contributor then named as a Local Guide.
How reward system works? Its based on basic life philosophy: give first, get then; the more you give, the more you get. Its all in Google Account that connected to all account or site we have. Every single information we share, both photo, video, rating, or review, will have a point reward.
The point reward will be impact to our account or site performances. In my experience, every point will lifting my website SEO. After many contributing to Maps, about 3 months, my site then become in highest level in page 1 of Google search! So, become a local guide will have 2 achievements in one act: 1. personal satisfaction: can helping the people find information we shared; 2. lifting our business performance directly.
That’s why I am really enthusiastic being a local guide. Thanks Google. A lot!
