Hi Everyone
I am Maham a level 8 local guide from Pakistan residing in Malaysia from the past few years. I joined the local guides program to support my husband as he is a local guide, by always working in the background for all those meet-ups and wagged for his endless passion towards local guide program.
So, my local guide journey started by contributing to google maps i.e. providing missing information, checking the facts and adding missing places as I always cared about small details. I always wanted my local community to get up-to-date information.
My passion gets meaning when I start getting feedback and appreciations on my review and contributions from people on maps. It accelerates my interest and motivates me more positively and meaningfully to contribute as it can benefit so many people in so many different ways. I always like taking photos of food and places where I love to visit, I start sharing all of them to the maps with the necessary information needed and it makes me enter into a new world of guidance and light. It gives me immense pleasure and peace that my contributions and efforts are making a difference in the community.
I start understanding the true worth of Maps and navigation when I first came to Malaysia for my Ph.D. studies and independently move in a new country. During my stay here, I got a chance to explore this new country move around to get to know new people, places, food, and culture.
One thing that makes me smile and can’t stop talking to it is the harmony between the three different races like local Malaysians, Chinese and Indians living peacefully under one nationality. Though their believes, culture all are very different from each other but living and working with mutual respect. I enjoyed a vacation on Eid as well as on Chinese New Year and Thaipusam etc. which I never experienced before. Being a Muslim I love to visit all the mosques in my approach, I must say all are very much well managed as owned and run by the government.
I also visit the other cultural and holy places like Christian and Chinese temples and find the same managerial excellence as in case of the mosque. Recently, I visited the Kek Lok Si Temple situated on the island of Penang, Malaysia during Chinese New Year celebrations. It is one of the largest and finest temples complexes in Southeast Asia and Built since the year 1891.
It’s not just a centre for Chinese culture and Buddha teaching, but also a unique heritage treasures with millions of magnificent images of Buddha and hundreds of beautiful meaningful carvings, sculptures, and murals in the interior and exterior of the temple halls, pagodas, and archways.
I also get the chance to visit St Anne’s Church, Bukit Mertajam which was founded in 1846. It is a famous Roman Catholic church located in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, Malaysia. Its annual celebration of the feast of St Anne regularly attracts over 100,000 pilgrims from Malaysia as well as neighbouring countries like Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Australia.
Being a food lover, I always strive to taste different cuisines and share my experiences in the form of photography and reviews. I hereby attached my top 5 desi Asian restaurants in Ipoh list which I liked the most.
Here’s one of my favorite list
Top Food Joints in Ipoh
Currently, I am focusing on the accessibility campaign to serve my community more. As it is still a big and inattentive issue in poor and under developing countries. I believe “sharing is caring” so I will not stop sharing my reviews, knowledge, and experiences to the community.
I am very excited and passionate to meet other local guides and googler to exchange ideas to learn so that I can contribute more effectively.
Thank you.
