Hi, I am Tony who is a level 8 local guide in Hong Kong. I like contributing on Google Maps, Like adding new photos of the attractions or places, answering questions and writing reviews.
Since becoming a Local Guide, I have pay more attention on the details of different places, for example, whether there are any accessibility equipment or public toilets, how the atmosphere of that place is like and so on.Then, I would take some photos and upload to Google maps which can be convenient to tourists and locals to know, before they visit. Also, it is very useful for them if there are changes or restrictions in process.
Crowdsourcing could make an impact to the world.
I believe crowdsourcing could make an impact to the world. The world is constantly changing, and therefore keep contributing to Google Maps for the latest information will be very useful. So I started to contribute on Google Maps. these are three main reasons which motivate me to keep contributing on Google Maps Community and the explanations are in the following .
Connect with people who are exploring Hong Kong with other Local Guides
It is a chance for me to meet new friends who have the same thought and Interest through Connect Community and meet up activities. We can discover Restaurant and attractions together and share our experience on Google Maps.
Rediscover the beauty of my home
Other Local Guide traveled to Hong Kong, We visited a few tourist attractions of Hong Kong. They thought Hong Kong is such a beautiful city. At that time, their reaction, thoughts, reviews made me admire my city even more.
Expand my horizon
Through Connect Forum, we can communicate with Local Guides from other countries. I can know more about their culture, food preferences and traditional festivals.
Also the ideas and feedback on Connect Forum and Google Maps inspire me and have new angles to make it better.
To sum up, it is a meaningful experience for me and it’s already become a habit to contribute on Google Maps. looking forward to explore more interesting things by contributing to Local Guide Programme.
