As a child I used to read a quotation from one of the famous Indian Marathi saints which made a deep impression on me. It was in Marathi like “Ekmeka sahayya karu, avaghe dharu supanth.” which would loosely translate in English as “let us help and support each other; let us join this noble movement.” Since then it has been one of the guiding values of my life.
To me, being a local guide means connecting, exploring, educating and helping.
I found A “Local guide” is one such noble movement. It has a similar underlying philosophy. Since I got involved in this program, it has changed my perspective about traveling and exploring different places. It strongly encourages me to do things such as add missing places, review, rate, add photos of a place and edit the information of a place" etc., which ultimately helps people in need to take the right decision.
Firstly I found some small business locations in my village that still not added on Google maps. I love how being a “Local guide" allows me to help others. Specifically, I have been able to help Small business owners by adding their Locations to the Google maps and helped them to flourish their business. It also helps a lot for customers to find the right place in a short time.
In this way with the help of “Local guide” Google maps connects the business owner and Customers to a similar platform.
I started all this by adding my friends small business location on Google maps.
Through this small action, I can help a customer in need to find what they are looking for; help a small business grow, and make new friends. I also educate some of my other friends about how their small contribution can improve Google maps that can make a strong impact on other people. They agreed to me and now they also joined as a “Local guide”
Before visiting new places, we always have an anxiety that how they serve us. But “Local guide "helps to ease this anxiety. As a local guide, wherever I go, I share my experience with that place by leaving reviews, adding photos and give a rating based on service. Like this I can help their potential customers to help guide their decisions.
I always had a desire to do something that will help others and I am glad that I could do all this as a “Local guide”. This is the first time, I am part of a platform that connects me globally & encourages me to make new friends. It is a great feeling to connect and help those I am not familiar with. I am grateful to Google maps for providing all these services free of Cost.
So, I would like to get selected for the connect live 2020, to learn, explore and provide feedback and celebrate the accomplishments of our global community.
