Couldn’t agree more, dear @MathanVibranarayan :+1:
All points are spot on :bullseye:

And I’d like to add that besides the virtual interactions, the meetups are the best way to cultivate and enjoy these benefits of being a local guide :handshake:

For me, being a local guide has broadened my horizons. For example, previously, I was loosely aware of accessibility and my knowledge was confined to a wheelchair.
After getting involved in the LG program, I came across more related stuff about accessibility.

You hit the nail on the head (this expression always makes me laugh :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:) dear @MathanVibranarayan , I totally identify with what you reported in your post. If I really have to add another point, it is that my way of presenting myself when I go on a trips has also changed: before I “expected” only pleasant things from my trip, everything had to be perfect and up to my expectations. Now instead I don’t have “this rush and demands” and the fact of immersing myself more like a common local and not like an avid tourist makes me see a very different and much more satisfying reality in the places I visit.

Thanks fot this post and have a great day,
David

Dear @MathanVibranarayan
The Local Guides program would feel more rewarding if Google offered exclusive features or perks, rather than solely emphasizing its voluntary nature. It can sometimes feel like our contributions aren’t adequately recognized. @Infinity @Kumaarsantosh

Dear @Aslamcop,

I respect your feelings about contributions to Google Maps should be more rewarding in terms of Google offering exclusive features or perks, rather than solely a voluntary contributions.

Nobody wants to waste their time and/or skills just like that. There should be some Tangible or Intangible benefits. I completely concur with your feelings.

However, we contribute the high-quality contents to Google Maps with the objective of helping the community. Also, we take pride sharing our experience here so that others can be benefitted.

Some of us including myself is very passionate about these contributions which make others life easier. This gives us the internal satisfaction, a feel of contentment and great happiness.

I consider these as intangible benefits which drive us to contribute. Badges, Perks, Rewards are the by-product of the whole process and those are not the driving factors.

Having said that, I would suggest you to go through the post Why be a Local Guide? for better clarification.

Keep building a well-informed community stronger :flexed_biceps: together.

JAI HO!!!
