Being a Google Local Guide in my 10s

Good day, all! I’m Mack Wong, from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and am only 17 years old, making me probably among the youngest Local Guides (and you may consider me rather ill-experienced!) here. However, though, age doesn’t really matter lah. It’s actually your passion in contributing to your local and ultimately, global, society, via Google Maps, which really matters after all.

I’ve started posting my contributions actively about half a year ago, albeit the fact that I have tedious and intense academic studying taking place simultaneously. Frankly speaking, it all started when I realised that there’s limited resources that someone could find and look up to in my area, Kuala Lumpur it is, and I was also interested in studying geographical maps in my free time since young (sounds a little odd, isn’t it?). So, in order to, kind of, help to improve and multiply these existing resources, I’ve started off contributing, photos initially, at my school, which used to have a pitiful amount of useful and identifiable snapshots at its current site. Then, I was more propelled to add my contributions on the region around the radius of my school (somehow), and then to places that I’ve travelled thus far. It’s been a fun time contributing on Google Maps for me so far, not only that I’ll see people getting more help in roaming through a certain area where I’ve been before, but also the sense of achievement which flooded constantly into my mind.

On top of that, I would like to urge and ask anyone who is rather timid (I guess that’s a little too strong, but context-wise it suits in) to step up and join our community in assisting more people to understand almost all places on our planet, through Google Maps, with true and helping contents. Well, you know, everytime after you’ve contributed, you would attain a token of appreciation (GLG points), and by contributing continuously to the Maps, you would then gain real-life-applicable rewards! Let’s work hand in hand to being active and helpful Google Local Guides for the betterment of all!
