Being a local guide over the years has helped me in so many ways. Being able to easily connect with people and most importantly breaking away from my shyness.
In quest of wanting to understand and know more about how it all started, i reached out to a fellow local guide @kafuiday who has been a part of google maps since 2012 to learn about how it all begun.
I had her shared her journey as a local guide in the video below.
Kindly watch and share with me your thoughts and feedback as well as how your journey as a local guide has been.
Congrats guys! I liked your video and I agree becoming a Local Guide is a life changing experience: you start being more curious, more thankful of what you have wherever it is you live, more open minded and outgoing, I’m a shy person myself, but here I find so many kind people sharing it’s just so natural
I Like most the photo with the smile. The video is long, but very interesting. Maybe @JanVanHaver will like it as well, as he produce podcasts as well.
@DapsonIshmeal Lengthy but really educative for exiting LG and incoming LGs for inspiration. Well done for your contribution to the maps and making it a better place for users. Mother Ghana is so proud of you, for taking it’s name higher.
Thanks alot @kroza indeed being a local guide is a life changing experience. I have built a lot of courage and momentum to do what i like and enjoy best.
Thanks a lot @TorM the video is indeed long. @kafuiday has an interesting personality that will want you to hang out with her for long. Thanks alot for spending time to watch. Looking forward to share more of such content soon.
I finally had some time to watch the video. Really nice intro to the LG program @DapsonIshmeal@kafuiday !
As @TorM mentioned, I have been running a similar effort, but with audio instead of video: www.letsguidepodcast.com. Feel free to share any info from any of the episodes, as being a local guide is of course all about sharing
What you might have already have figured out yourself: for upcoming videos it might be more convenient to use a location with less noisy traffic passing by
Thanks a lot @JanVanHaver I really appreciate spending some time to watch the video. Your podcast site seems to have a lot I can learn from. I am super excited already about making this video and having @kafuiday share awesome stuff about the local guides program.
Thanks for the suggestion about the location. I will try working with locations with less noise.
