Begnas Lake - Hidden Gem Near Pokhara

Better than Phewa lake where all the tourists are flocking into.

Try the grilled fish. The fish is fresh from the lake and filled with spices and herbs.

Hi @BuddhaNepal

Thank you for your post. Where did you try the fish? Did you catch and BBD the fish yourself perhaps? I have been to Phewa Lake but because we ran out of time, I never made it Begnas and nearby Rupa Lakes but I heard they are very beautiful indeed. We had booked accommodation at the Begnas Lake Resort but had to cancel this as well. Perhaps one day!

Majhi Kuna is the place where everyone goes for grilled fish. I have tried there in Fisherman’s Restaurant (one of the best).

This time I went to Evergreen Restaurant and it was good too.

The locals catch fish from the lake and serve to the guests so almost all restaurants nearby have fresh fish. All of them have learnt how to make grilled fish (Apparently an Israeli taught one of them and it got spread).

If you are not on a budget then the best place to stay around here is Begnas Lake Resort. They take you by the boat if you want to avoid the dusty road. The resort is just awesome - organic fresh vegetables from their gardens - no chlorine in swimming pool - list goes on. Owner is dog lover and has 5-6 rescued street dogs as pets and a calf too.
