Beginner Questions

Just joining the new Local Guides Connect and while it’s an interesting premise, I’m not finding any content that is actually local. I was under the assumption that I could view recommendations, photos, and other kinds of stories in my Zip Code, or be able to choose a different one if I plan to travel there. Am I missing the point to this whole forum?

@Wheelercub , welcome to the Local Guides Connect community. Happy to have you here with us.

Your post and questions are exactly one of the main reasons for this forum. This forum is for Local Guides to seek help and advice, ask questions, exchange ideas, find solutions, report/resolve issues, connecting with other Local Guides in your area and all around the world.

The way that LG Connect has been designed is that posts are grouped into main categories which you can see when you access the menu from your top left (on phone), or the left navigation bar (from desktop).

Probably the best way to locate a specific type of post or information is to just search for it using the search bar. Not every information can be found here, but it’s a good way to get connected to other members who can help. When you reply to a message, you can tag a particular user with @username so he or she can get a notification.

Since you are new here, do introduce yourself in the link below. And I am attaching some other links below you may find useful, just for reference, And happy contributing.

I completely agree with @Wheelercub . I see A LOT of content that is completely irrelevant to me because it is from nowhere near me. Yes, I know I can do a search, but I think what we really need is an option to select a general region/sub-region and then digest the various topics from there. I do see the value in keeping the content “region free” so that everyone can understand how the community is utilizing the service/features, but I think having the option of “localizing” Local Guides Connect forums is an important one to have. As it stands right now, I have a hard time understanding the value it will bring to my Local Guides experience, and actually makes me question if this community is something I will even want to continue using…there’s just too much information for me to dig to through find “that one thing” that might be relevant to me…you know, locally.
