There are three good beginner dive sites on Bali in my opinion.
The first one is Tulamben Ship Wreck in northern Bali.
The waters are rough and it got a slippery rocky beach that is hard to walk on with the diving gear, especially if you are a new diver, but once you get below the surface it’s a lot easier.
The ocean life is great and to swim next to the ship wreck and see all the corals and fish is amazing. There isn’t that much current underwater so as a new diver you don’t have to worry to much about that.
The other one is two spots in one.
It’s Padangbai and Blue Lagoon (Green Lagoon)
Both have much calmer waters than Tulamben and you can easily get a Jukung to get you to the sites.
They have clearer waters and therefore more visibility,
If you are lucky you get to experience the Blue Lagoon, with crystal clear waters and really good visibility, about 20-30 meters ahead if not more.
If you are unlucky you get to experience the Green Lagoon, it’s more turbid and got a greenish algae tint to it, therefore the visibility is not that good.
Padangbai and the Blue/Green Lagoon has good ocean life with a lot of fish and corals. The currents are almost same as Tulamben so new divers don’t have to worry about that.
Third is Manta Point on Nusa Penida.
The waters can be a bit rough with a lot of waves at the surface and some moderate currents underwater.
Most days you will see trash in the waters and if you do see trash then you can set a good example and pic them up.
The most amazing part about Manta Point is that you can swim with Manta Rays and that experience will last a lifetime.
But remember to keep your arms and camera sticks tight to your body and keep calm when you have a manta ray near you.
Thanks for reading and I hope you liked it.
