What does 6-axis Image Stabilization and Auto Horizon Leveling mean in real life for 360 cameras? Watch the 2 360-videos below, first one shot with my Xiaomi Mijia360 (with stabilization built-in) and the second shot with my Samsung Gear360 (2017) (with minimal/no stabilization built-in).
Video 1:
Watch a in-camera stabilized 360 video with auto horizon leveling. Long and short basically means, it’s like having a built-in Gimbal with minimal jitters and the entire Camera and Selfie stick is automatically hidden away! Looks like a floating camera flying camera filming around me! (Try to zoom out as much as possible when watching). An automatic feature of the Xiaomi Mijia360 Camera with no additional editing or post-processing.

Video 2:
And compare that to my Samsung Gear360 (2017) that does not have 6-axis stablization. You can see how jittery is it even when walking slowly on a very flat road, and how the full selfie stick really gets in the way.

Disclaimer:
- I paid for both cameras by myself, and am no way directly or indirectly sponsored by any of these companies
- Both cameras are on the latest firmware, latest phone app, running on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge on Android 7.1
- Both cameras are on full max default setting, which means that the Xiaomi Mijia is recording at 3.5K, whilst the Samsung Gear360 2017 is recording at 4K.
- Stitching is done via the phone app, without any manual intervention or editing or enhancements. And shared directly from the phone to YouTube. No transfer to PC or any other process.
- Both cameras are recording at the same time, on different hands, with different selfie sticks. The XiaoMi Mijia360 is set in the same direction as the stick (which hides the stick away, and this is possible because of auto-levelling feature of the stabilization), this is a good feature to appear to be recorded by a floating camera. The Samsung Gear360 (2017) is set vertically, because it has to be vertical.
