- When I sign into local guides connect url on Google Chrome application IOS I am being brought to a page as a new user. If I use Safari I can sign into my account. Can a moderator help with this? @ErmesT I should not have duplicate accounts from same systems as user. FYI I am traveling, but in areas I’ve traveled before so this should not be an issue. Maps and history are turned on . Let me know please and thanks
The access control on Connect used to the Google Account you used to become a Maps user, Local Guide and a user on Connect.
You may have used another Google account, or have been logged out of your Google account in the browser.
I recommend you try logging in to Gmail using the Google Account you use for Maps and Connect. Once logged in successfully, you should be able to open localguidesconnect.com with no problems.
And your account on Connect is fine since you were able to make this post.
Cheers

@MortenCopenhagen I have not used another account for contributions, mapping or connect. I’ve use the only one account under my given name. I searched localguidesconnect and was brought to a page for sign up. Also been receiveing new sign up emails. Please check with admin if possible to correct the duplication.
Messages related to your recent signup are most likely caused by you trying to sign up again while not logged in using your normal account.
I can conclude that logging in is no longer an issue, as you are communicating here, correct?
Please check the normally not visible headers in the welcome email you received and let me know if this is the same email address that you normally use.
If so I will be happy to escalate the problem.
Cheers
Morten
@MortenCopenhagen The url is the issue. I have to clear cache at some point , do you not agree? Now I’m faced with the issue of a duplicate account for flagging. (Refresh) , I am not trying to use more than one account. So now , I have a fake second account I didn’t sign up for. ???
Hi @TiffanyStockstill , the login in Connect is an automatic procedure, but if for some reason you have deleted your cookies and cleared your cache you may need to login again.
It doesn’t mean that you are a new user, but simply that the browser is not sharing with the website all the necessary information to identify your automatically.
The first thing the login procedure will check is your Local Guide status: only a Local Guide can join the community, so if you are contributing in Maps with only one account then you are safe.
And once logged in you can easily go to your profile and see your post here, as a confirmation that you are here with the same account.
There is a simple way to know what account you are using for Connect:
Open Connect in incognito mode, then tap on the gray avatar and login.
In any case I have made a quick check and I haven’t seen a second user with the same name of you here in Connect. We have more than 100 Tiffany registered, but only one seems to be “you”
- @MortenCopenhagen My apologies on technical grammar. I meant applications. So yes, ofcourse I am still logged in via Safari however when I go to Google Chrome Browser application on Iphone (IOS) this is when I receive the new sign up.
@ErmesT I have one gmail account I use to login.
That’s perfect, @TiffanyStockstill
So just use that one.
One of the side effects of the necessary operation of clearing cache and cookies is that the login information are deleted for most of the websites that normally “remember you”, so that you have to login again.
But if I am correct you also said that you received an email about joining Connect.
Can you share a screenshot?
Being logged in pertains to the browser(s) and not your device. So being logged in in Safariy does not mean you are also logged in in Chrome.
Maybe that is helpful to know.
Cheers

Hello @MortenCopenhagen
Not certain why, but related to this topic, I noticed that I have a “New Contributor” badge on my Maps profile.
I have been one of the best contributors Maps can dream of since 2016.
The more I contribute the less points I get… and my reviews disapear.
Then I find reviews and images of ither LGs suspiciously exactly the same as my reviews and images.
I remember others reporting same issue back then…
As a result, a few years ago, I began keeping track of my exact reviews’ copy with the exact images I submitt to google maps.
How am I a “New Contributor”
Don’t worry.
I too got the new contributor badge just recently after all my reviews were gone for a few weeks.
All the best
Morten
Thank you
@ErmesT and @MortenCopenhagen , the issue is resolved. Thanks for the immediate directions in help.
You are welcome, @TiffanyStockstill
Happy to know that now you can automatically login in Connect
