Beautiful Swaziland

I have lived in south africa all my life, and moved to Swaziland a few years ago. I now live back in SA but travel to Eswatini on a monthly basis. To most South Africans, Swaziland is known as the place people used to go to, to enjoy the casino, back in the day when south Africa had just one casino. I feel that Eswatini is one of the best kept secrets and want to use this opportunity to encourage people to visit. It is peaceful, in a time when safety is of utmost importance, I can safely say that I am able to walk to malls, and into taxi ranks, wearing all my jewelry and carrying a handbag, and feel totally safe. The police are by far the most vigilant and dedicated government workers. The entire kingdom is filled with hard working, intelligent, humble, friendly and welcoming people who are keen to help tourists and foreigners. The people of Eswatini are patriotic, and they follow and preserve their culture. The best part for visitors is that the swazi people are so keen to share their culture and educate people on their traditions and beliefs. The country itself is beautiful, with endless hills and mountains, green lush landscapes and huge dams and wildlife. One can spend their time here enjoying long peaceful, safe walks, hiking, visiting wildlife parks, going horse riding and exploring the beautiful mountains. For those wanting to go out and experience something a little more commercial, there are lovely malls to visit, in Mbabane, ezulwini and Manzini. Ngwenja glass is a great destination, where one can watch glass items being made, purchase beautiful pieces of glass ornaments or enjoy a delicious lunch. It is set in the mountains and is the most beautiful way to pass the afternoon. One can also go zip lining, swimming, shopping, movies, gambling at either the royal Swazi sun or happy valley… And so the list goes on. As someone who has lived in Eswatini, I have a number of favourite places to eat. My absolute favorite is Luxy Garden, a chinese restaurant with the absolute, most amazing food to rock your taste buds. From fire fish, to fried rice, vegetable stir fries and chicken or beef and pork, there is something to satisfy every palate. The condensed milk buns are a must for desert. Luxy gardens is situated at the corner plaza in Ezulwini. For those looking for a special evening out, I would recommend the Royal Swazi buffet, or terrace menu, Summerfields, or the Calabash. These are all fine dining places for a special evening out. If you are in the mood for mingling and meeting new people or sitting outside and enjoying the summer evenings, at a cost table, I would highly recommend the Pizza vesuvico. The pastas, pizzas and freshly squeezed juices are delicious. For those who feel like Indian cuisine when they are visiting the kingdom, “The green chilli” in Mbabane is good and so is Tandoori, also in Mbabane. On a budget? Try the Galitos or sausage saloon. There are loads of accommodation options, with top class hotels and small cosy bed and breakfasts, many self catering options, or villas. You will love Eswatini, the peace and tranquility, the people, the weather, and the rich amazing culture.
