Be important, help people, play gamble!

I love all kinds of adventures. That’s why when I received the proposal to participate in the program “Local Guides”, I immediately agreed, despite the fact that I still do not quite understand what this is about.

Then, after visiting a place, I began to receive requests from Google maps for grading and writing reviews. This was an interesting assignment. Writing a review, both positive and not very, I felt that my opinion is important and that it helps people. Moreover, both to potential visitors to this place - to decide whether it is worth the time, effort and, possibly, money - and to the owners or administrators - to understand what people like about their establishment and what is worth changing. I respect entrepreneurs and businessmen and try to formulate even my negative comments as politely and carefully as possible, not forgetting to highlight at least one plus.

When I am writing an admiring review of a place that I really liked, I am imagining the joy of the owners when they will read it. I am pleased that I can reward their work not only by visiting and leaving a certain amount of money in their institution, but also by positive feedback, inspiring them to continue to develop their business. I know for myself how important it is to get feedback from a client upon completion of work with him.

My other favorite option in the program is answers to questions about the place which you have visited. I understand that my answer is important to users. And it takes only a few seconds. Well, of course, adds a couple of points.

Speaking of points and levels. Until March 2020, I had no idea that achieving a certain level in the program gives any real benefits. I perceived these points simply as a game promotion, as an online quest. And although it seemed to be somehow childish, it still added excitement and made participation in the program fascinating.

And only when I received an invitation to participate in a contest in which you can win a trip to California, I realized how gambling this game could actually be. I have no idea what my chances of winning this year’s contest are, but the opportunity itself inspires me. Because, firstly, I will be able to visit a country where I have not been, secondly, I will be able to see my good friend from Moscow, who has been living in California for many years, and thirdly, of course, to get acquainted with new people from all over the world (and I adore new acquaintances!). With people who play this game with me and possibly share many of my values.
