Be a Hero: Become a Local Guide, Help Others!!

Namaste dear people!!

I am Harsh Vardhan, a Level 6 Local Guide from New Delhi, India. This post is about the most interesting thing I have done as a local guide.

Remember our childhood, how we dreamt of being a superhero and help others. The Google Local Guide has given me such a platform. Over the time, I have realised that just by adding a photo, writing a review or answering a question, you can help a lot of people (Become a Hero).

I will share one similar story. There is a very famous beach trek in Gokarna, Karnataka, India. The trek consists of mainly 5 beaches (in order ‘Gokarna main beach - Kudle beach - Om beach - Half moon beach - Paradise beach’). Tourists usually start trek from Goakrna main beach and end at Paradise beach. This trek takes almost an entire day. By the day, one reaches the last (Paradise beach), he/ she gets very exhausted. There is no transport at this beach, other than boats which charge like a lot. So, a tourist either treks back or takes the boat.

After I reached the Paradise beach, I thought of exploring even more. Using Google maps, I started to trek even south. Surprisingly, I found a lesser known beach ‘Belekan beach’ after 30 minutes of trek. It was very peaceful as hardly any tourist knows about it. And most importantly, one could find a public transport from there to the town.

I wrote about this on Google maps, added photos and told my friends about this. I really hope tourists going for Gokarna trek will find my reviews and photos very helpful. If my contributions such as reviews and photos are making a change, creating a difference, helping others, it makes me feel I am a Hero.

Hello @HarshVardhan_hv ,

You may be new on Connect or writing to share a post for your Connect Live application. If you’re applying to Connect Live be sure to share a link to a new Connect post responding to this year’s application prompts. You can find everything you need to know about writing a post for Connect Live 2020 by taking a look at the guidelines. P.S.: Keep in mind that one of the requirements is to share your post on the Local Stories board. I’ve moved your post there.
