After my situation with the Fallen hiker, I decided to spend some more time at Lathkill Dale. I visited the remains of the Bateman Mine water pump entrance. The mine has been there since the early 1800s and was originally mined by the Romans for lead.
The Bateman Mine entrance had a stone house built over the hole by the then owner, Mr. Batman, when it closed, but today the house is just ruins in the forest and nature is covering what is left.
It is free to visit and has even had metal ladders, gates and a light installed for public safety. This part of the mine was used as a water pump system to stop the mine flooding. On heavy rain days the hole because filled with water so access may not be permitted.
The location is Lathkill Dale in the Peak District,England.
Depending on which entrance you choose very s the time to get there If you enter from the Youlgreave side, it is maybe a 20-minute walk, but if you were to walk in from the Monaysh side, it could be a 2-hour walk.
Also the exact location is not on google maps but if you watch the video you will see the wooden bridge you have to cross to find the mine.
