Banh mi - an easy handy take away food in Vietnam

Banh Mi or Bánh Mì is the Vietnamese word for a loaf of bread. In Vietnamese cuisine, it also refers to a type of baguette which is often split lengthwise and filled with various savory ingredients as a sandwich and served as a breakfast. Nowadays, people also get banh mi for lunch or dinner because it is huge enough with a glass of sugar milk.

A typical Vietnamese sandwich is a fusion of meats and vegetables from native Vietnamese cuisines such as pork sausage, coriander leaf (cilantro), cucumber, pickled carrots, and pickled daikon combined with condiments from French cuisine such as pâté, along with chili and mayonnaise. Some wives can make at home a very good ingredient added such as butter with eggs, garlic and peanut oil. However, a wide variety of popular fillings are used, from Vietnamese meatball to ice cream. In Vietnam, sandwiches are typically eaten for breakfast or as a snack but the travellers consider a Banh Mi as a handy food (take away) for lunch and go for exploring the town or nature. You can see an example recorded in Hoian.
