No such thing as too many coffee shops when you fly halfway across the world to visit Skee. Jet-lagged and sweltering in the Southeast Asian heat, she wasted no time dragging me onto the back of a Grab bike and heading out to her favorite cafes scattered around the city. As someone who tries to keep caffeine intake to a minimum it was… an experience to say the least. Too much coffee was drunk. Not enough food was had. I thought imbibing unreasonable amounts of caffeine might be enough to cure the worst of my jet-lag, but no such luck. Instead I was just tired and dehydrated on top of hot and jet-lagged.
The best flavor experienced: Sun Dried Banana @ Roots Sathorn
The weirdest flavor experienced: Blood Orange @ Coffeeology
The best dressed: Matcha latte @ Grounds Coffee
Skee’s favorite cafe is a place called Mother Roaster, which has a staggering collection of beans to choose from, as well as notes on their region and flavors. I actually got a horchata latte here (trying to stay away from too much caffeine, not that it did me any good) while Skee hemmed and hawed over beans that I guarantee she knew nothing about. Kudos for presentation though, her hand poor looked awesome. As the farthest thing from a coffee enthusiast you can get, I was perfectly happy with my creamy tea latte.
