Ban Hing Kiong, The Four Century Temple in Manado

Ban Hing Kiong is a oldest temple in Manado, North Sulawesi established since 1819. Located in Chinatown and very close with city center. This temple as the holy place for tridharma (the religion refers to Buddhism, Confusius, and Taoism).

Ban Hing Kiong meaning are a palace with abundant blessing. The main deity in this temple is 天上聖母 Tian Shang Sheng Mu a.k.a. Ma Zu, the goddess of the sea. In the first floor have 3 altars i.e. 天上聖母 Tian Shang Sheng Mu altar on the center, 廣澤尊王 Guang Ze Zun Wang and 福德正神 Fu De Zheng Shen on the sides. On the second floor have altar of Buddha, Confusius, and Lao Tzu and altar of Guan Yin on the highest floor.

In a year, some festivals are held in this temple e.g. Cap Go Meh on 15th day of first lunar month and Moon Cake festival on 15th day of eight lunar month.
