Bala Haramsara (Stable Area) Fatehpur Sikri.

Lower or Bala Haramsara, Royal Palace Complex, Fatehpur Sikri, UP, India.

The Mughal Emperor Akbar, who was an ambitious emperor, had realised the dream of one Nation and eminent Nation which was of course India.

Fatehpur Sikri royal complex, is popular for truly unique architecture, exquisite carvings, open furnished courtyards, Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas, Panch Mahal, Daftarkhana, treasuries etc. Palaces for the emperor and his wives, for his mother including ornamental pools, gardens, Pavilions, a beautiful small mosque adorned the complex. Birbal’s Palace is a masterpiece who was the Akbar’s chief advisor. Kitchens, godowns, laundry, workshops, stables etc. were located outside the special harem and there are numerous structures which are part of the World Heritage Site. Ridge slopes were carefully designed, excellent landscaping and all structures were built on different terraces.
Bala Haramsara means Lower Haramsara is also a magnificent structure which is wrongly popularised as Stable for Camels, elephants and horses.
It’s a large walled premise and it was having an entrance provision in the Northern portion which is damaged. Remaining three sides is a varanda which was rectangular in shape and surrounds a rectangular Courtyard. These verandahs are open facing to the Courtyard. Complete structure is built by red sandstone. Roof is supported by series of rectangular stone pillars and lintels are resting on plain projected stone capitals and eave brackets. Stone hangings are supported by eave brackets. Rear wall is having large rectangular shelves two in each section. And stone rings at floor two-two in front of each pillar and one in the centre. It signifies that this premise was the maids living quarters as no stable needs shelves. These stone rings were probably used for the partitioning curtains. According to the Archaeological Department and their findings there were lavatory blocks for the sanitation purpose of the staffs. As these were in the service of the royal ladies. Friezes are plain and balustrades are carved with arches and in arches flowers, torches and Greek Crosses etc are engraved.
This structure is located just at the back of Principal Haram. There are many protected monuments maintained by the Archaeological Department like Carvan Inn, Carpet Industry, Various Massive Gates, Rangmahal, Stone Cutters Mosque, Hiran Minar etc which I will try to cover soon. This is a major tourists attraction especially among the history buffs, arts and architecture lovers.
This structure is having very simple architecture with least relief work as it was the residential quarters for maids. At the same time desired comfort and liberal life was provided, which is significant by the grand Courtyard in this premise. The Sun was about to set and it was the closing time as this monument serves as the exit point which may be referred in Pics

Of course not many, but I wish that these may serve the purpose.
