Hi @NikhilPillai thanks for the post, I’m curious why is called the city of Winds?

Hi @nicspelgatti

Baku is the capital city of Azerbaijan and is situated on the Caspian Sea.

Since it’s windy throughout the year, place is nicknamed as “City of Winds”

Hi @GNaz

I went for a trip to Baku last year . Baku, capital city of Azerbaijan is situated on the Caspian Sea .Place is always windy with good climate and is very beautiful with architectural sculptures like Flame Towers ,Heyder Aliyev Cultural centre etc and old iconic buildings like the Shirvan Shah Palace,Maiden tower etc. Baku is a combination of old and new cities. Unesco heritage sites are also there in old city. Regarding cultural part ,they had a history of Zoroastrianism and fire is worshipped all over the country. There are spots like Yanardag where a natural fire is seen everytime around a mountain which doesn’t die down even during rains .Really fantastic .Atashgah Zoroastrian fire temple is also a heritage site where we can understand the history and culture of Azerbaijan .We can see lot of rock carvings and fire spots. There are lot of sites for shopping also like the Nizami street. Lot of hotels and all amenities available at a reasonable cost. Overall a perfect holiday destination

@GNaz i liked all places since each place has its own importance but if you ask my favourite it’s the flame towers only . Especially the night view of the skyscrapers lightened with led lights is so mesmerizing
