Lahore has a bunch of historical places and Badshahi Mosque is one the most visited place due to it’s marvelous architecture.
The Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb built the Badshahi Mosque (the 'Emperor’s Mosque) in Lahore, Pakistan. This huge Building’s construction took only two years from May 1671 to April 1673.
It was built opposite the Lahore Fort, a position that illustrated its importance in the Mughal Empire. In conjunction with the building of Badshahi Mosque, the Emperor had a new gate built at the fort named Alamgiri Gate.
The mosque displays an excellent example of Mughal era architecture. The Mughals introduced Indian architecture that has come to symbolize the beauty and mystique of Indian civilization.Since Pakistan split from India in 1947.
Pakistan has uplifted the Badshahi Mosque and Fort Lahore as symbols of the nation.
It is the second largest mosque in Pakistan,It accommodates over 55,000 worshipers at a time.
It is closely resembles with the Jamia Masjid in Delhi, India. The size of Badshahi Mosque is difficult to comprehend. It may have been the largest building in the world during the seventeenth century.
On the occasion of the second Islamic Summit held at Lahore on February 22, 1974, thirty-nine heads of Muslim states offered their Friday prayers in the Badshahi Masjid,
A few years back, a small Islamic museum was added to the mosque. The museum contains precious relics of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), his cousin and son-in-law Hazrat Ali (RA) and Prophet’s beloved daughter Hazrat Fatima Zahra (RA). It also contains some old hand-written copies of the Holy Quran.
There are also a Quran Gallery in which silver and gold hand made A Huge Quran Displayed. This all makes Badshahi Mosque a place worth worshiping and worth visiting as well.Photography is not allowed inside the museum and Quran Gallery so I did not add any picture of the museum & gallery
