Hi guys, I’m Garfield. I have a long-short story to tell you guys about Google Maps.
Short brief: from Thailand, Moved to NYC years ago, amateur on Google maps Local guides, Kinda dumb sometimes.
About two years ago I moved to New York City with my girlfriend, our first idea about this big city was… oh god.
It was very awful because we came from such a small country and still developing unlike civilized cities like NYC.
We had no idea how to get things, how to commute, which train should we took, where should we had dinner and bla bla bla. I’m a person who uses technologies as a helper tool, so I used Google maps as usual but I never realized that Google Maps is so powerful like this before. That’s how I start digging deep about Google Maps until I found Google Local guides.
Google Local Guide is a very unique platform it has a huge number of users, that’s mean a lot of information about traveling tips and guidance, how cool is that!
Now, I just travel without googling before I go… well, all I have to do is just search on lists of the destination I go and that’s that, how easy and efficient is that. After I discovered this cool feature I talked to myself why don’t I become one of them? I just wanted to share my experience of wherever I have been. I can say that the Local guides program made my life easier and I can’t live without it, It helps me discover new places or basic judgment of certain places.
Before I decide to go I just check on the feedback and information provided by users to see if it’s worth going. I have been to many places around the USA or the world and everywhere I go I use the information on the Local guide as my indicator, for instance, certain info, time of operation, a special event on a certain place or in the city, thus create an opportunity to go more and do more even explore more. It’s like I have a personal city guide with me all the time.
If you ask me what is the Local guides mean to me, for now, I can answer it means travel buddy who I can’t live without because it helps me many times more than I can count in various ways, even it enlighten me to see and found a kinda secret event or places. Also, I spread my opinion and my favorite places to the world and every user who wants to see the world. New York City is a small city but it has many places to explore, I can’t tell which is worth going which is nice, so I don’t have to risk myself or my wallet because other Local guides just did it for me. On the weekend I always go out with my friends every time we discuss where to go we are digging through on Local guides’s info and the result is we discover a new cool place every week and we have a lot of fun or to be said, it helps me to create good memories with my friends. One time, me and my girlfriend wanted to explore Estes Park in Colorado but there’s no good information on the internet but Local guides just saved us by providing necessary information even someone created a travel list in Estes Park, as a result, we had good memories back home. Moreover, sometimes many places in NYC have a looking good store as a trap to lure the innocent, like me but in the reality is not like what I see thanks to the intel I gathered by Local guides.
Now I wanted to answer more what is Local guides program means to me, it means friend a good friend who never ever let me down, a good friend that helps me build great new memories, a good friend who has every intel on his hands.
