One such interesting journey was the opportunity of Dungarpur, a very clean city of Rajasthan. Badal Mahal is a small but a magnificent heritage.
Dungarpur was founded by the Maharawal Veer Singh Dev in 1258 AD and was the descendents of Sisodiya’s of Mewar. Maharawal Gopi Nath who defeated the Gujrat Sultan Ahmad Shah in 1433 AD. He built this Badal Mahal’s ground floor with veranda and its level roof is suported with decorated pillars. First floor and further decoration with three domes a significant example of Indo Mughal Architecture. Ground floor was also renovated. It was a Royal Summer Retreat and later was Royal guests house. Situated on the bank of Gaip Sagar Lake offers panoramic views with the cool breeze. Now it’s a museum where the statues of the rulers, Swords, Musical instruments, weights, pictures, terracotta artefacts etc are displayed.
Free entry and the Boating point is also located close to Badal Mahal. It’s an ancient town and having a very rich history. As it was under the Indo Scythian rules also. It’s a major attraction among the history buffs wanderers soulseekers art culture and Architecture lovers. November to February is the best season to visit this historical Town.
