Hi, there is a way to backup and download photos that i have loaded on google maps as a local guide? Thank you

@lucamengoni you can use Google Takeout https://takeout.google.com/

Or you can manually look through your Album Archive https://get.google.com/albumarchive/

Hi @lucamengoni

I always upload my pics to Google Photos and then from Google Photos directly to Google Maps. That way I always have a backup which is super easy to manage and search for photos in.

You could consider this for future uploads.

It would be interesting to know why you want to make a backup of photos uploaded to Maps.

The photos will always be visible to you, irrespective of the status of your LG account or even if the entire contribution becomes private.

The only chance of losing access to that is when you forget the login id and password. But, you can always set up some means to recover that.

The recommended methods of backing out through ā€œtake-outā€ or ā€œalbum archiveā€ did not work for me. However, you can try your chance. Yet you may not get the same original quality photo through that.

Nonetheless, I always upload through Google photos app which serves as a medium for backup.

A backup for photos uploaded on Maps would be helpful.

Here are my reasons:

I do not want to keep in Google Photos pics I took for Google Maps because itā€™s bloating it. I would like to keep my G Photos as personal as possible in order to easily navigate and find pictures that Iā€™m looking for when needing them. I used to upload the pics from G Photos to G Maps and when I was deleting it from G Photos was gone from G Maps as well.

From time to time the pictures uploaded to G Maps are disconnected from theirs POI, showing ā€œView Placeā€ or ā€œUnknown Placeā€ (device dependant). The funny thing is that this happens to some of my pics around 50k views, but thatā€™s a different discussion.

So, when it comes to those disconnected pictures, I would like to reload them back as there is no tool that would allow me to re-link the ā€œUnknown Placeā€ picture back to its POI.

This is why would be helpful to have those Maps pictures back up in the cloud, but separated from photos.

The easy way I see this would be to have the ability to move the pics (that I take for improving the map) within G Photos to a folder similar to the Trash folder (so they do not show in the photos section, only in that folder).
