Well, how will heaven look like? What is in the heaven? Iâve looked into several holy books and scriptures. They contain the dazzling tales of beautiful heavenly spirits, delicious foods, mervelous drinks and fruits. There are everything satisfying our senses. But Iâve never found any trace of library there. There are no pleasure of books mentioned anywhere in the heaven. They said you would get everything you need and then trap us by enchanting with physical and sensual pleasures. But they never say about books & knowledge & wisdom. That means books are nothing essential! But isnât Sense gratification temporary? Wonât it loose itâs value after a certain time? Can anything be alternative of books for mental, everlasting & eternal peace? The simple answer is ânoâ.
If a man reads one book in each hour continuously till his death, he will be able to cover upto only 5% of all the good books in the world. That indicates our ignorance and foolishness & at the end we take nothing with us while we die except those igonarances & foolishnesses. Stil we boast of our Knowledge, power & wisdom.
Whatever, the introduction might sound boring! What I have to tell today is about a physical and visible heaven in the city, Dhaka. Itâs name is âBaatighar - āĻŦāĻžāĻ¤āĻŋāĻāĻ°â (Lighthouse).
It is placed on the 7th floor of 'Bishwa Sahitya Kendra - āĻŦāĻŋāĻļā§āĻŦ āĻ¸āĻžāĻšāĻŋāĻ¤ā§āĻ¯ āĻā§āĻ¨ā§āĻĻā§āĻ°â located in Mymensingh Road, very close to Bangla Motor. This is the heaven for whom who love books and find sensual pleasure in reading books.
The heavenly decorum the collections will give the feelings of being in heaven but in physically not in imagination! The stall is fiiled to the brim with books from here and there and everywhere of the world. Most importantly they are new, well-organized and well-aranged.
This is one of my most favorite places in Dhaka. During my Notre Dame life, I tried to visit this place weekly though at that time this place was not this much beautiful as it is now.
