@Rednewt74 you said “The “add your photos” prompt is definitely problematic”. In my daily job, I sometimes need to take photos of our products while in the office or warehouse. At the end of the day, I get prompted to add my photos to the location. Google Maps also assures me that photos at this place usually get many thousands of views. Naturally, I ignore those prompts as the photos weren’t taken for that purpose.
@MortenCopenhagen thanks for this hint I will use the tagging tool from now on. Also thankful for your insight full informations I appreciate it.
Have a sunny day and greetings from Munich.

Hello @MortenCopenhagen
I have two questions below
-
Can Google delete a similar image if it is uploaded?
-
Can delete his contribution points too?
I want to know something about the above.
Hi @VishalDarji
I’m sure they can, but this almost never happens.
Instead, the photos are hidden or practically never shown. In more extreme cases your ability to post contributions on Maps might be blocked, or in very extreme circumstances you could be suspended from the local guides program. I have seen a few examples where spammers were removed from the program and all their contributions on Maps got deleted.
Now to your second question. When you delete a photo then the corresponding points for uploading the photo will be removed from your account.
Feel free to ask again if I did not understand your questions correctly.
Cheers
Morten
I understand completely.
And in another case, I would like to ask that if I upload a photo at a place and the same photo is already uploaded by another local guide, what should be done?
And maybe if I have uploaded such duplicate photos then it is necessary to delete them now or there will be no problem?
Brilliant questions, @VishalDarji
It would be very helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply. Just hitting Reply does not ensure we get notified by email.
The guidelines does not mention anything about avoiding duplicating photos uploaded by others.
But in the name if being as helpful to other Maps users I think it’s very good practice to avoiding uploading photos that are already available in abundance. Look at some tourist attractions and you may find very similar photos uploaded repeatedly.
As Google do not ask us to not upload such photos there is no need for you to remove them.
The photo selection AI find find the best or better images and show them first.
But looking forward you may want to avoid taking such photos and focus more on places with fewer photos already uploaded.
Cheers
Morten
Thank You @MortenCopenhagen for such useful information.
And today I have read many of your posts which are very useful to me.
@VishalDarji I sometimes look to see what Photos are already uploaded to a place, then deliberately attempt to take photos that are different. That is of course more difficult for places that have many hundreds of Photos already posted, but works well for less popular locations.
@MortenCopenhagen o que são estes emblemas ao final das suas mensagens?
I’m not sure I understand your question.
Oi @MortenCopenhagen , bom dia!
Agora eu entendi, são uma espécie de selos de conquistas ou de premiações, você tem muitos no seu perfil e com todo merecimento e respeito!
Parabéns!
Good Morning @MortenCopenhagen, I’ve a question to you.
Someone is removing places from Google Maps and after a few hours or days they were back on Google Maps.
They were never gone like Parks, Buildings etc. so how is this possible and what can I do? I just get the removal notification from from Google.
Best,
Stefan
