Looking for a place that offers a rich variety of authentic Maharashtrian dishes? Kath N Ghat will truly satisfy your cravings for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies. Kath N Ghat surprised me with their unique menu. While their non-vegetarian menu has a huge variety, their vegetarian dishes are outstanding.
The vibrant colors of the walls paired with the red seating chairs are stunning. (#2)The beautiful painting depicting Maharashtra’s culture and traditions is a highlight. Some thoughtful traditional items elements like the feta (Maharashtrian style head cover kind of hat), Kath Padar saree (Saree which has unique border), and Marath mola saaj (Maharshtrain Jewelry) add even more beauty to the place. Although the place looks modern, these elements create a perfect blend in the ambiance, making the space lively and cultural, enhancing the entire dining experience.
We started with the Plum Pataka, a delightful burst of tangy and sweet plum flavors that truly hit the spot. This was followed by soups Mushroom Kalimiri Soup and Kadhan (lentil soup) which were flavorful and the perfect appetizers to kick off our meal.(#3)
Next, we indulged in the perfectly crisp Kothimbir Wadi and Kansache Samose, both served with a variety of chutneys and sauces that complemented each bite.
For the main course, we ordered the Veg Pulao and Shahalyachi Bhaji. The Shahalyachi Bhaji, a coconut-based dish, took our taste buds on an exciting journey with its rich flavors. I’ve never had a tender coconut dish prepared in such a unique way. This dish alone is reason enough to return!
Typically, the cheque/bill comes with fennel seeds (saunf), but we were offered a delicious paan chocolate, which was a delightful surprise!
The staff is incredibly warm and attentive, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable visit. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a cozy atmosphere and smiling staff members.
Kath N Ghat is easily accessible from Eastern Express Highway. Also the nearest bus stop is Nitin Company. There’s also a garden behind the bus stop if you’d like to sit and chill or do some photography.
Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore the flavors of Maharashtrian cuisine!
