August is Photography Month [10th Local Guides Anniversary Events]

During the month of August aligned with World Photography Day we will be holding a series of events and challenges here on Connect for you the community celebrating 10 years of Local Guides. Your hosts will be Connect Moderators @Velvel @FalguniP and myself @PaulPavlinovich .

We’ll be getting together shortly to plan out the month and we would love to know what you might want to see during the month as an event, challenge or other activity. Let us know in the comments below!

One thing I already plan is a reunion of Point Click Guide. Back during the dark days of the pandemic around 50 of us helped keep each other sane in a series of workshops and celebrations around photography.

I am looking for an expression of interest for someone to take on The 36 Walk a world wide event encouraging quality over quantity. In past years I have organised this event with help from a few people. Some changes in my life mean I don’t have time to put it together so I need someone to take it on and make it theirs.

One of my favorite images ever was taken on a desolate stretch of coast in Australia called Wreck Beach. You can only get here during low tide and you better not stay long as the water reaches several meters up the cliff at high tide.

Nice initiative @PaulPavlinovich . I don’t think I’ll have the bandwidth to host a meetup in the next few months, but I’d be more than happy to support everything else, especially if you have anything going on in Melbourne!

Oh indeed @FalguniP that series of simple get togethers brought some small joy into our lives during challenging times.

Thank you for starting this post @PaulPavlinovich .
Looking forward to collaborating with you and @FalguniP :handshake:

Oh, I love to hear that there will be a reunion for Point Click Guide! I was one of the student there and you were a great mentor, mate :hugs:
Still remembered that I practiced a lot after each session with my DSLR that I haven’t used for so long. I hope after the reunion, my DSLR will active again

I have to confess I don’t use my camera much anymore @Velvel phones are so capable today there barely seems to be a need to carry a traditional camera. I really only use mine for shooting people. I was contemplating the other day if I really need most of my camera equipment contemplating clearing house down to two modelling lenses 45mm f/1.8 and 90mm f/1.2 and one travel lens 12-100mm zoom f/4. I have not used anything else for sooooo long.
