Attending Rajshahi Local Guide Meet-up 01

I was very excited when I discovered that there would be a Local Guide event in my city next week.

As it was within walking distance from my home, I reached there before the event’s scheduled time. The meetup was in front of The Varendra Museum, and I reached it on foot in just 5 minutes.

First, I met Shahinur. He was working very hard to organize everything. Slowly everyone started coming. About 1 new face was added every 15 minutes. Even though I didn’t know anyone from before, everyone started talking like friends in no time.

My happiest moment was receiving a shirt as a gift of appreciation. I didn’t think earlier that my contribution would be among the top 5, then I was shocked when my name came up.

We celebrated @NahidHossain achievement by eating a sweet dessert and taking pictures of the happy moments. He was announced as the Guiding Star of 2022. I enjoyed getting to know everyone.

That’sgreat, @The-Sabbir ! It’s always nice to make new friends :slightly_smiling_face:

I am so happy to see so many new faces come up together. Of course, even some known faces were personally known, but I heard them talking about local guides for the first time.

Meetups always help to keep up the pace of volunteering. Even though I had a lot of ups and down throughout my decades of mapping, whenever people like you talk about their contribution, discussions about the positives of volunteering talk about the effect it is making on their day-to-day life, it helps to re-motivate me in a good way.
