Rule number 1: Always keep your doors locked or you might be raided by the baboons.
.
Wikki Warm Spring is located inside Yankari Game Reserve in Bauchi staten Nigeria; animals are allowed to roam about freely without any restraint. You might as well be swimming with the wild boars.
.
We were warned prior to our trip and I was very careful about this. However, we didn’t realise these animals not only raid rooms but attack humans…ON SIGHT:flushed:. .
.
As soon as we locked the door heading to checkout, 10 baboons with their ring leader appeared from no where. Omg!! my mind started racing. “Don’t run…don’t run…stand your ground”
I began to swing my travel bag from side to side. I would let out a deep growl one sec to scare then away then scream in a high pitched voice to call for help.
“THROW THE STRAWBERRIES”
My travel buddy threw all our strawberries towards them to distract a bit. .
.
then George of the jungle appeared to save us; the grounds keeper came running with a huge log of wood to shoo them away.
.
Apparently, if they sense you are carrying food, you would definitely be attacked.
Be careful with bags, cameras, phones, car keys.
These baboons ain’t loyal.
