I lived in Athurugiriya which is around 26 km far away from Colombo city. This city has been developed around 10-15 years back with new housing scheme called “Millenium City”. since then, this City becomes a busy town in this area. because it got all the facilities in this city. Most of the banks, Pizza, Supermarket’s bars and much more.
However, reaching to “Athurugiriya” from “Colombo” is not easy. during office time it will take 1 hour and 45 min via a bus. Trains are available in a nearst city called Homagama which is 4 Km far away from “Athurugiriya”. I normally take a taxi (tri wheeler) to go to “Homagama” train station then go to Colombo, where I work. by car, it takes 1 and a half house to reach “colombo” or vise versa
Othere than that , Athurugiriy is a Green city. most of the areas we can see monkeys, birds some time, rabbits and very rarely the gang of deers. most of the houses got at least 4-5 trees in their garden. Mango, Banana, and some fruits are easily can be found in my city. Temples are very common in this City.
The utilities - Electricity, Water, telephones, 4G, Broadband internet are easily available in my city. Broadband internet is now on Fibre to home.“Sri Lanka telecom” is providing that.
Most of the people are Buddhist. few Catholic and less Muslims and Tamils in “Athurugiriya”
