I am looking to spend part of the first half of October in Asheville, NC and would like to live as close to the locals as I can while visiting. Are there places that I should avoid or stay away from? Any recommendations on lodging? What are places you would list as “must see” if you had only one week to visit? Hoping to visit Highland Brewing Company - love their beer. Asheville is ranked as the #1 most hospitable city; so generally speaking, I think you’ll see receptive communities everywhere.
In regards to lodging, Asheville is ripe with many new hotels. Downtown provides the greatest diversity of local guide content locations. Be sure to stop at the visitor’s center on Montford to get more ideas.
October is awesome for hikes and Blue Ridge Parkway experiences too!
