Arrah - Old town of Bihar

Arrah also spelled as Ara is a small town situated 60 KM east to Patna. It’s very old town.

As per myths I have heard that name of town has been behind the word “Arany” which is a sanskrit word means Jungle. It is said that the Guru of Lord Rama - VIshwamitra had his ashram in this jungle. Also there is a temple of jungle deity Arnaya Devi which connects towns name to it.

This town has also have mentioned in history of Magadh empire. Also mentioned by Huent sang a chines traveler.

Town is also famous for the freedom fighter of 1857 Babu Veer Kunwar singh.

Special food of the town is Litti Chokha a gram floor with masala stuffed in wheat dough well cooked in wood coal or upla ( Cow dung cake). and smashed boiled potato item.

“Khurma” is an special sweets made up of paneer cooked in sugar

Must taste Litti-chokha and Khurma whenever you visit the town.
