The menu has all of the Big Easy classics including gumbo, crawfish etouffee, shrimp n’ grits, catfish and po’boys. Can’t skip ordering a hurricane (infamous Bourbon St drink) to get the full experience.

If you’re in Georgetown and in need of a quick meal go to Falafel Inc. It is the cheapest food option in the area and the food is plentiful and well-seasoned. The most expensive thing is the $4 falafel bowl that is full of falafel (of course) and lots of veggies. Your meal isn’t complete without the Zaatar fries which are super tasty and delicious even cold. Don’t forget to try all the sauces available to compliment your meal.

4. Ambar Capitol Hill- A taste of Balkan culture

The best time to visit is during brunch. Make a reservation if you don’t want to wait at least an hour on the weekends. Brunch is a thing in DC, so you must experience it at least once while you’re here. For $39 you get an endless selection from a full menu of small plates plus bottomless drinks. The pear waffle will melt in your mouth and have you ordering more.

5. Chinatown Express- Chinese comfort food

Go during lunch to enjoy the lunch specials offered 10am-2:30pm. The prices are cheap, and the food is plentiful. The duck soup with warm your soul with its tender meat and savory broth. No visit is complete without the steamed pork buns. Service is quick, and you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
