Being part of the local Guides program has offered me adventure(mountains and valleys), purpose, hope(straight roads) and friendship(memories).
The program has offered me the opportunity to move out of my comfort zone into the tropical heat to explore and share my ideas about places and things with the world. Some of the places people used to ignore has now become their favorite places after viewing my pictures and reading my reviews.
The feedback i get from my reviews and pictures pushes me to travel to places i would not dare to visit at first. I have added pictures of remote villages where i experienced at first hand the simple lives of the people still living in extreme poverty.
I have also been able to do what i call ‘e-travel’. That is experiencing places without actually being there. I guess quarantine and isolation should not deny us the knowledge and fun we get from what we love doing.
The local guides program has enabled me to meet different people, encounter challenging situations and provide myself with happy memories.
To conclude, answering the question what Local Guides program means to me is like attempting to explain what life means to me. And i would not agree more with Soren Kierkegaard, who explain life to be a reality to be experienced and not a problem to be solved. Hence the Local Guide program is a reality to be experienced.
