If you are a fan of antic monument you can see something similar as Roma colosseo in Arles but with much smaller size. It has been constructed around same time (year 80-90) so not long after birth of Jesus Christ. The city place was founded even before his birth.
Nowdays this arena and the antic theater are used as a show stage where you can see corridas, horse ride exhibition, theater comedy, concert and much more.
The city itself does no longer look like antic but you can see some street belonging to medieval period, you can see the pavement that has been preserved over centuries in some streets.
Arles is famous as well for arts as Vincent Van Gogh stayed there more than a year (house in Lamartine place) and his painting gallery location was called the yellow house. He has painted this yellow house in 1888 and it became one very famous painting.
You can go to pay a visit to the modern art museum LUMA at parc des ateliers.
