I would like to tell you about the history of this photo.Being in Morocco, we visited the factory for the production of cosmetics from argan oil.We looked at the process of getting argan oil from the bone.
Argan oil is called the liquid gold of Morocco. Argan oil is rare and valuable in the world. It is obtained from the fruit of the Argan tree. This tree grows and bears fruit from 150 to 300 years. Its fruits in shape and size look like as a plum or a large olive. From bones extract organ oil. Berber women are mainly engaged in this. The process is quite time-consuming.
Oil from roasted seeds is used in cooking, from unroasted-for medicinal purposes and for food. Separately produce cosmetic oil. Fruits need to be collected from the ground, not from a tree. Because on the ground are falling ripe fruit .Only ripe fruits are dried in the sun for a week, purified from the pulp manually split the shell of the stone to extract the bones. This you can see well in the photo .From 100 kg of fruit only goes 1-2 l of oil.
What is more surprising is that the local goats love the fruits of Argan. They know how to climb trees and climb high to get the fruit.
@helga19 , i really your passion to share your experience in Morocco with all the community. Aragan oil is so expensive for many reasons especially that the argan tree is endemic to a restricted area in southwesternMorroco (and very limited area in Tindouf, Algeria) and the extraction process requires a lot of workforce. But that industry gives the chance to many families to live in dignitiy and to reduce the extreme poverty in arid areas in Morroco.
Thank you for sharing your experience in Morocco with us, it made me very happy reading something about my country. I have visited the same area several years ago, and it’s really nice. Did you buy some argan oil? I’m sharing with you a photo of some goats on an argan tree.
Please, have in mind that some of the photos you’ve posted are not yours, and we kindly ask you to re-edit your post, remove them or put some photos which are yours.
PS: I will put your post in the section Travel on Connect, as it fits better there.
Thank you for sharing this information. Sometimes I put argan oil in my hair because I’ve heard it is good for growth and strength.
I would love to hear more from your trip to Morocco because I want to visit it from quite some time now. Perhaps you could share your story in another post and add some pictures?
They are amazing, some of them are really going on the trees to eat the fruits, but others are put there on purpose to attract tourists and take photos. The funny thing is that they stay at one place and don’t move.
I agree with @BorrisS ,these goats are very funny. We watched this goats on the way to Marrakesh. They stand on the tree and did not move. But to make good shot these animals is difficult task.,because you can notice such unusual picture very seldom.
These goats stand for attract attention tourists.
In that place ,which I visit goats ate the fruits .
Thank you @BorrisS for your comment! It is nice to know that it is your country.
I visited Marocco many years ago.,but I have many photos and bright impressions. We visit Agadir,Marrakesh, small nanional villages .Sure,I bought argan oil and some cosmetics.
I liked this exotic, beautiful country very much,it looks like as Easten fairy tale.
Thank you @IshantHP_ig for your question. Well, both means are present, I mean, in some remote places you still can find such women making the argan oil in the traditional way. It is a heritage that they got from their grandparents and parents. However, for others it’s just their daily work from which they can get some money.
Modern machines are also present for making bigger quantities of argan oil, as during the last two decade it has become very popular, both in cuisine and cosmetics, the demand for it became bigger and bigger.
PS: The traditional way of making the argan oil, is a touristic attraction as well and a things which is shown during some workshops, but as I said, not only! Still, there are women doing it for their income.
