Hello! I have a quick question. As of now, I am creeping towards 10,000,000 views with only 1667 photos. I was wondering when I will be able to add a web address on my photos? Or, will I ever be able to add my web address on any of my photos?
Thank you
Colleen

What kind of web addresses are you talking about @Colleen ? You are of course allowed to add share links of Google Maps to your connect posts.

I think you are allowed to add website of photo especially to a review on the Google Map

I don’t think you can make your uploaded photos here redirect to a URL, but you can always add a text on your post that leads to your website. Like so.

This is an interesting question @Colleen
The Maps User Contributed Content Policy can give some input, but in my opinion need to be interpreted, for this reason I am also tagging @GeorgesHR for a feedback.
What I can see:
Under Format Specific Criteria > Superimposed text or graphics we can read:
Superimposed text or graphics, including promotional content such as logos, are subject to the following requirements:
… Superimposed text or graphics must be relevant.
For me it means that you can add your logo, but I will be careful with adding a website (that in my personal opinion is advertisement) as under Text Reviews and Captions you can read:
Don’t use reviews for advertising purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, posting email addresses, phone numbers, social media links, or links to other websites in your reviews.
Don’t include promotional or commercial content.
Personally, on my photo I just add a watermark with my name, to protect myself from plagiarism

Checking the link submitted by you, I am sorry but I have to say no. Let me please explain:
First of all, I LOVE your page. in the community we care about environment in an active way: Local Guides Clean The World - A Local Guides project
But, even if you are simply a guest in their website, I can see that the website is embedding some advertisement. Many website does embed advertisement, for having free space or more space. This means that, with your link, even if this is not your intention, you are advertising, and this is not permitted by the program rules
Hope you can understand that this is not against you, but is to avoid promotional contents

You must be really good at capturing perfect shots. Wish we could see some of your best work here in the thread. Unfortunately I don’t know the answer for your question.

Hello @Colleen ,
You are allowed to add a small watermark on your photos, but Google Maps should not be used to promote any websites, businesses or personal blogs of any kind.
Thanks!

Hi @ErmesT thank you for your response and for the information about the rules!
I actually didn’t know about the advertising rules until you linked it. Sorry about that.
Now I know and I will try my best to keep to them.
@Colleen please see the response from Ermest above, as it might be useful to know if you decide to post external links in the future.
I also liked the content you put on your site though. I learned about superblooms!
When I visit San Diego, I’ll make sure to check out the beaches because of this!

Thank you for the response. My website is about San Diego Beaches and all I am looking for is traffic. I do recall seeing some photos on Google Maps and was wondering what the criteria was. I have been waiting for a year and a half to reach 10 million views😀 Thanks again!
Thank you for commenting. I find that the ‘secret’ is to take photos of places that do not have any pictures yet as this gives you the number one photo
My website is about the beaches of San Diego, so I have many, many, many google map links!
Thank you for visiting my site, Elle! I appreciate that so much
